Homework for 8/31/09

Math Journal p. 20-22 and Study Link 1.7
Spelling-Tree Map (one branch long e words, the other branch long a words)
Reading- Students need to read half their independent reading book by Friday
Writing- Students who did not finish their judgment paragraph need to finish their paragraph at home.

Spelling Homework

Just a reminder that Spelling homework in 5th grade should look like this.

Weekly Spelling Assignments

Monday
Create a tree map sorting words by their spelling rule (check the book)

Tuesday
Create a flow map by putting spelling words in alphabetical order

Wednesday
Create a bridge map with words showing, synonyms, or word meaning and antonyms.

Thursday
Create a tree map sorting spelling words by number of syllables
Study for test

Friday
Test day.

Students should include all 30 words in each map except Wednesday's bridge map. On Wednesday they only need to use 20 words. All spelling should be done in their best cursive.

Welcome to 5th Grade! This year I would like to post all of the 5th grade homework on-line. I realize that sometimes homework calendars don't make it home, or they are not completely filled out.
